Among the most
interesting coin series from the Royal Canadian Mint in 2013 was the “Canada:
An Allegory” series. Consisting of three
coins (one each struck in gold, silver, and bronze) portraying the iconic “Miss
Canada” image, these coins portrayed Canada in symbols. The devices and legends engraved on the three
coins were essentially identical, but scaled to the size of each coin. In addition, multiple finishes were included
in each of the three proof strikes to add luster and drama to each coin. The diameter of the coins is: Gold – 20 mm, Silver – 38 mm, and Bronze –
35.75 mm. The 20 mm format of the gold
coin provides ample room for the engraving to be quite easily viewed, while the
larger formats of the silver and bronze coins provide even better
portrayal. All three coins are Canadian
legal tender. The gold and silver coins
each have a face value of $25 while the bronze coin has a face value of $3.
