Description
There’s a universe of wonders crafted into this coin, starting with the way silver dust swirls together with a variety of borosilicate colored glass pieces to re-create an image of the universe.  Every coin has its own unique swirl and each one is captured in a globule of borosilicate glass that has been handcrafted and applied to the coin.  The glass was also given added luminescence to capture the faint glow of the galaxy - a stunning effect!

A gorgeous gift for everyone who loves star gazing.

Special features:
•  WORLD’S FIRST! This coin features a combination of color and glow paint along with a specially selected borosilicate fine art colored glass that also glows in the dark!
•  EACH GLASS PIECE IS A UNIQUE PIECE OF ART! Each coin is crafted with a swirl of silver dust to create an image of the universe that is one-of-a-kind.
•  ADDED LUMINESCENCE IN THE COLORED SKY CAPTURES THE FAINT GLOW OF THE GALAXY! A stunning effect that also shines from some of the stars.
•  A unique celebration of Canada’s status as the first nation to possess an officially recognized dark sky reserve, a distinction that is a source of pride for Quebecers, particularly those living in the blackout region of Mont-Mégantic.
•  For our Canadian customers, this coin is GST/HST exempt.

About the Design:
Canadian artist Loïc Beaumont-Tremblay has re-created the forested setting of the Observatoire du Mont-Mégantic beneath a clear, star-filled sky.  A globule of borosilicate glass shines with a stunning image of the universe.  The round, crystal-clear qualities of the glass are similar to peering through a telescope lens, and its luminescence further enhances the viewer’s experience of gazing into the galaxy.

Packaging:
Each coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell protected by a black beauty box.
