This coin was the fourth release of 2015 in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.  This beautiful five ounce silver uncirculated coin’s back side features a great blue heron in the foreground and a great egret in the background.  Please note:  This is the special numismatic variety - not the ordinary bullion variety.

This refuge is host to hundreds of thousands of migrating ducks, geese, shorebirds, and neo–tropical songbirds during their spring and fall migrations.  Bombay Hook’s 16,000 acres include freshwater pools, swamps, upland forests, agricultural fields and one of the largest unaltered tidal salt marshes in the Mid–Atlantic region.  It was established as a national site in 1937.

Description
The Great Sand Dunes National Park quarter is the fourth release in 2014 and the 24th overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve has the tallest dunes in North America, forming the centerpiece of the site’s diverse landscape of grasslands, wetlands, conifer and aspen forests, alpine lakes, and tundra.  These can be experienced through hiking, sand sledding, splashing in the Medano Creek, and watching wildlife.  The Great Sand Dunes National Park was first established as a national site on March 17, 1932 (47 Stat. 2506).

The reverse design features a father and son playing in the sand next to the creek bed. The distinctive mountains and sand dunes are featured in the background.  Inscriptions are GREAT SAND DUNES, COLORADO, 2014 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.  Design candidates were developed in consultation with representatives of Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.


Program
In 2010, the United States Mint began to issue 56 quarter-dollar coins featuring designs depicting national parks and other national sites as part of the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Program.  2014 marks the fifth year of the program and features the Great Smoky Mountains, Shenandoah, Arches, Great Sand Dunes, and Everglades National Parks.

Each coin is encapsulated and placed in a flock lined fitted box with lid and protective sleeve, as shown in photos.  A Certificate of Authenticity issued by the United States Mint accompanies each coin.

Three Mint Roll Set – In Numismatic Wrappers!


Description
These are circulating quality coins (“business strike”) minted on the main production floors of the United States Mint locations in Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco.  The set consists of 3 mint rolls in numismatic wrappers - one 40-coin roll from each of these three mint locations.  The San Francisco Mint coins bear the “S” mint mark.  “S” mint mark America the Beautiful quarters are minted specifically for the numismatic market (collectors and investors).  Though these are legal tender coins, America the Beautiful coins from the San Francisco Mint are never released into circulation.

These 3-roll sets are still sealed in protective white mint boxes, as shown in photo.  These boxes are all date stamped “08/04/14”.  The time stamps on these boxes range from “08:45:04” to “08:46:07”.

These are circulating quality coins (“business strike”) minted on the main production floor of the San Francisco Mint and bearing the “S” mint mark.  “S” mint mark America the Beautiful quarters are minted for the numismatic market (collectors and investors).  Though these are legal tender coins of circulating quality, America the Beautiful coins from the San Francisco Mint are never released into circulation.

All of these 100-coin mint bags are still sealed in protective white mint boxes, as shown in photo.  These boxes are all date stamped “07/29/14”.  The time stamps on these boxes range from “11:32:49” to “11:39:07”.

Description
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park quarter is the first of 2014 and the 21st overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park features wondrous biodiversity, with ridge upon ridge of forest straddling the border between Tennessee and North Carolina.  Great Smoky Mountains National Park is world renowned for its diverse plant and animal life, the beauty of its ancient mountains, and the quality of its remnants of southern Appalachian mountain culture.  It is America’s most visited national park. It was first established as a national site on May 22, 1926 (44 Stat. 616).

The reverse design depicts a historic log cabin found within Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  It features a segment of the lush green forest and hawk circling above. Inscriptions are GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS, TENNESSEE, 2014 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.

Each three-coin set features an uncirculated quarter from the United States Mint at Philadelphia, an uncirculated quarter from the United States Mint at Denver, and a proof quarter from the United States Mint at San Francisco, with images specific to each national site.  The coins are held in a durable plastic card that features a picturesque image and a brief description of the site and the coin, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity on the back of the card.

The Great Basin National Park quarter is the third of 2013 and the 18th overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.

 

The reverse image depicts the beauty and unique qualities of a single Bristlecone Pine tree and shows the rocky glacial moraines where the trees grow. These trees grow at higher elevation in the park and are some of the world’s oldest. The park contains numerous Bristlecone Pine groves with trees older than 4,000 years. Inscriptions are GREAT BASIN, NEVADA, 2013 and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Design candidates were developed in consultation with representatives of Great Basin National Park.

 

Great Basin National Park, located in the heart of the Great Basin, has exceptional examples of regional geology, biologic diversity and scenic grandeur. Park attractions include Lehman Caves, the most heavily decorated limestone solution caverns in the western U.S., and Wheeler Peak, the second highest peak in Nevada. Great Basin National Park is an oasis in the desert with more than 40 miles of perennial streams and 400 springs. The park also contains a variety of cultural resources dating back to prehistoric times, as well as structures and sites related to mining, western surveys and ranching. It was first established as a national monument on January 24, 1922 (42 Stat. 2260).
